Where the Water Meets the Land

We are currently in production on this documentary feature tentatively titled “Where the Water Meets the Land”. The film blends cinema verite, documentary, and narrative style filmmaking taking influence from Werner Herzog, Errol Morris, Agnes Varda, Lance Oppenheim, among others.

The film is a colorful, storybook like journey into the lives of houseboat residents in Sausalito, CA. We’re pulled into the story through the launch of the last houseboat from the historic Marinship shipyard that has been launching ships since WWII. Built by AIA Craig Steely, this incredible floating home is a nod to the vibrant artistry and creativity that has been present throughout the houseboat community since the 60’s and 70’s.

The film centers around the lives of the people that make up this magical community and their stories range from comedic to incredibly poignant. The underlying theme of water is ever present as it appears to have a supernatural pull for the people who end up calling this community their home.
